SODA GOT HUGE (just like us)

In 1976 I was 11 and Seven Eleven introduced the amazing BIG GULP!   It was an incredibly huge 32 ounces of sugary joy.  2.6X the size of a can regular can of soda, the BIG GULP was the biggest drink I had ever seen. Truly worth the trip to Seven Eleven!  11 year old me and sugar were getting along just fine, but I lived a long way from a Seven Eleven.

Then In 1994, McDonalds combatted the BIG GULP with its own version of a massive drink called the "Super Size."  The 32 oz soda was now easy for me and everyone to get.  Oh happy days!

In 2004, McDonalds discontinued the "Super Size," and it became ....just a large soda!  A large soda at McDonalds is 32 ounces!

Cans of soda in America are bigger than in most other counties.  Yet, a SMALL soda at McDonalds is 25% bigger than an American sized can of soda.
