Wednesday One Thing - The Value of Owning VS Sharing Your Fans or Customers

Market capitalization is the value of the number of shares a company has sold times the current price of a single share of stock.  Example:  If company sold 10 shares of stock at $10 each, that company's market capitalization would be $100.00.

Telsa's market capitalization is 8.3 times bigger than the COMBINED market capitalization of Ford, GM, and Stellantis.  What we used to cal the "Big 3" is now tiny compared to Tesla.

How did Tesla get there?  They OWN their customer data, and don't share it on social media.  As shown below, the "Big Three" spend billions on advertising while Tesla spends virtually nothing.

The bottom line is  - Tesla spends only 2% of what the "Big Three" spend on advertising, and is worth 8.3 times more!

In 1999 Seth Godin said, “Your web site should be 100 percent focused on signing up strangers to give you permission to market to them.”

Don't share your customers. Don't share your data.  Be like Meta, Google, Amazon, X, and Tesla.

Stop sharing, start making more money.
